It is not possible to appreciate the sculptural and luminous quality of Rob's work in two dimensions, such as on this website page or in an exhibition catalogue. It is highly recommended that you view the work in person.

The Big Breakfast news programme on the UK's Channel 4, circa 1996.
There is clearly a degree of ‘artistic licence’, and a few errors in this 1996 news clip broadcast on the UK Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast, presented by Gaby Roslin and Mark Little. The clip perfectly highlights the perennial challenge of lighting and showing holograms on TV in a way that does them justice!
All four holograms shown in the segment were created using my DI‑HO (Digital Input - Holographic‑Output) LCD, computer-automated, digital stereogram system, which I designed and built between 1989 and 1991, with the first 'digital' holograms produced in early 1992.
The Water Drop hologram, featured in the clip, is an animated reflection hologram by Jeffrey Robb, which we created in 1994, just after Jeff had graduated from the Royal College of Art and joined me at Spatial Imaging. Jeff had previously made a version of this hologram for his degree show at the RCA using the stereogram system of Nick Phillips and film footage supplied by Oxford Scientific Films. Water Drop was also a bestselling 1990s 'Eyebyte' DI-HO digital embossed hologram sticker.
The two ‘rock stars’ mentioned were Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, an animated DI-HO 'moviegram' created from supplied video footage in 1996.
The Mike Oldfield CD cover hologram was the first-ever full‑colour, animated hologram, a DI-HO ‘moviegram’, to appear on a music album cover, in 1994.
The bit about 'employed by NASA' is completely wrong, although I did make a hologram of a moon rock from NASA in the late 1980s.
